What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a gentle, non-invasive brain-training method that helps improve focus, emotional control, and overall regulation.

Sensors simply “listen” to the brain and provide real-time feedback through a movie or game. When the brain produces healthier patterns, the movie plays smoothly — helping the brain learn these patterns over time.

Trusted By Experts

  • Rated Level 1 — Best Support by the American Academy of Pediatrics

  • Backed by 50+ years of research

  • Supported by large controlled studies showing improvements comparable to ADHD medication

  • Used by thousands of clinicians across North America

Many parents want help, but don’t want to rely on medication alone — or their child is struggling with side effects.

Neurofeedback teaches the brain a skill — which is why results often last even after sessions end.

Is ADHD Making Daily Life a Struggle?

ADHD affects more than attention — it impacts schoolwork, emotions, friendships, and family routines. If you’re seeing any of these patterns, you’re not alone:

  • Homework takes hours and ends in frustration

  • Emotional outbursts happen over small things

  • Teachers report trouble focusing or staying on task

  • Sleep routines are inconsistent

  • Mornings feel chaotic and stressful

Many parents want help, but don’t want to rely on medication alone — or their child is struggling with side effects.

There is a safe, non-invasive, evidence-based alternative that helps the brain learn to self-regulate — and it works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe for kids?

Yes. Sensors only listen to brain-wave activity—nothing is ever “zapped” into the brain.

What does a session look like?

Your child relaxes in a comfy chair for ~33-45 minutes while watching a movie; they receive auditory and visual feedback as their brain learns how to regulate and that’s it. No special effort or stillness is required—kids can wiggle.

How many sessions will we need?

Most families book an initial 30-session protocol (2–3 visits per week). Many parents notice calmer mornings and better focus by session 10, but every brain learns at its own pace.

Will the results last or will we be doing this forever?

Tennessee Neurofeedback teaches the brain a self-regulating skill; once learned, gains generally hold unless there’s a big life stressor or concussion. Some families schedule “tune-ups” during exam season or growth spurts.

Does my child need an official ADHD diagnosis first?

No. Because Tennessee Neurofeedback is a training tool (not a medical treatment), children can benefit whether they have a formal diagnosis, suspected ADHD, or are simply struggling with attention.

What about medications—do we have to stop them?

Absolutely not. Many families use Tennessee Neurofeedback alongside current care; any medication changes should always be discussed with your prescribing physician.

Is there any homework or screen-time restriction?

None. The training happens passively in-session; no exercises, worksheets, or apps to manage at home.

How do we know it’s working?

We run a before/after Brain-Map at 20 sessions, we provide personal check-ins every session, plus review progress in real time after every session.

What if my child can’t sit still?

That’s okay—micro-movements don’t disrupt the sensors. The movie itself keeps most kids engaged, and our techs are trained in redirecting restless little ones.

Are there side-effects?

Very rare. Some kids feel mildly tired or energized for an hour afterward—both signs the brain is reorganizing. There are no known negative long-term effects.

How much does it cost and is it covered by insurance?

Package prices vary and we offer flexible payment plans. Coverage options vary—please contact us and we’ll verify whether your private plan, HSA, or FSA qualifies.
